General Chat. Great plains vs JD grain drills. I would like to have a ten foot no till drill, am mostly looking at either gp 1005 or 1006, or 750 or 1560 JD. I would like to no till small grain for forage, and also grass seed. In its day, the 750 was the best thing out there, but that day was over 15+ years ago. They are pretty old and tired by now. The newer version was the 1560, and then the 1590. If your budget will allow it, get at least a 1560. I had a 1560, and then sold it and bought a pair of 1560's with a Houk hitch.

I am thinking an 8 setting to start with. I'd run the fescue in grain box and clover in alfalfa seed box,IDK why they call it a grass seed box it's mostly used for alfalfa or other hard seeds.Grain box is used more for fluffier grass seeds.
